Adjusting to life in Arizona

Being a Yankees fan and having spent almost all of my life in New England and New York, things are sure a lot different in Phoenix.   After having moved here in July, I'm starting to settle into it, but it has taken a lot of getting used to.   However, having it be nearly 80 degrees in February is definitely something I have adapted to quite well.   One thing I haven't adapted to is the baseball scene.   After having spent all those seasons going to Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium, my trips to Chase Field have been quite disappointing.  First of all, the Diamondbacks are a mediocre team.   They do have possibly the best farm system in the league, so I know it won't be long until they're great, but watching them last season was a lot different than the baseball I'm used to watching.   And the atmosphere just wasn't the same.  It was a shame to go and see the Diamondbacks playing a Florida Marlins team that was young, but surprisingly good, and seeing the stadium less than half full.   But I guess this is a site that I'm going to have to get used to.   But I'm not here today to share my view on the Diamondbacks.  I'm here to talk about how spring training is less than two weeks away, and for the first time ever, I'm going to be there, and I can't even begin to describe my excitement about that.

I currently live in an apartment in Mesa, on the outskirts of Phoenix.   My apartment is in a fantastic location, and I am very close to the spring training stadiums of the Cubs, Athletics, Giants, Angels, Mariners, and Padres.    In short, throughout the months of February of March, there are going to be more days that I'm at a spring training site than not.   The Cubs in particular are going to get a lot of my attention, as there stadium is a 5 minute drive away.   As a Yankees fan, but more importantly as a fan in general, I am going to have a lot of fun reporting on everything going on around me until the season starts.   And if you're thinking about coming out to Arizona to catch some spring training, I can't recommend it highly enough.   Arizona is a beautiful place.   The weather is fantastic, the scenery is top-notch, and if you come to the Phoenix area, there is so much baseball to watch.

While I am a Yankees fan, this blog will be situated to baseball in general.   If you have a subject you would like to hear me talk about, leave me a comment and if I think it would be interesting, I will get to it.   Having previously written a blog titled "pinstripepride," I have some experience on this site.   But I felt with the large amount of Yankees blogs available, I preferred writing one that might have a better chance of standing out.   But regardless, it feels good to be back on the mlblog community, and I look forward to discussing baseball with you for the duration of the season, and especially during spring training, here in beautiful Phoenix, Arizona

Thanks, it's good to be back. I'm glad to be in Arizona, and am looking forward to what will hopefully be a good season at Chase Field. I think the D'Backs have a good young team and could be better than a lot of people realize.
